Vision model based video perceptual distortion measure for video processing and applications

چکیده
In this paper a perceptual video distortion measure system based on the human vision model is presented. This system is an extension of the still perceptual distortion measure system. One advantage of the distortion measure is that the distortion can be weighted for frames in the vicinity of scene cuts. Our video distortion measure also requires less computation compared to other approaches. The perceptual distortion measure has wide applicability in video processing and applications, such as in the selection of the quantization matrices, the selection of the mquant parameter, and as a criterion for mode decision in MPEG encoders. Simulation results are presented.

A Novel Approach to Background Subtraction Using Visual Saliency Map
Generally human vision system searches for salient regions and movements in video scenes to lessen the search space and effort. Using visual saliency map for modelling gives important information for understanding in many applications. In this paper we present a simple method with low computation load using visual saliency map for background subtraction in video stream. The proposed technique i...
متن کاملCompressed Domain Scene Change Detection Based on Transform Units Distribution in High Efficiency Video Coding Standard
Scene change detection plays an important role in a number of video applications, including video indexing, searching, browsing, semantic features extraction, and, in general, pre-processing and post-processing operations. Several scene change detection methods have been proposed in different coding standards. Most of them use fixed thresholds for the similarity metrics to determine if there wa...
متن کاملNo Reference Video Quality Evaluation for Multimedia Applications
Perceptual video quality evaluation plays important roles in multimedia applications, such as video teleconferencing, video on demand and Internet streaming media. Most of the traditionally objective video quality assessment attempted to quantify the predefined artifacts of the coded video sequences. In this paper, we present a new no reference perceptual video quality evaluation model based on...
متن کاملBinocular-Combination-Oriented Perceptual Rate-Distortion Optimization for Stereoscopic Video Coding
In the chain of stereoscopic video processing, stereoscopic video coding and viewing are usually two independent stages. Conventional stereoscopic video coding puts emphasis on improving the coding efficiency by seeking the optimal trade-off between the coding bit-rate and the signal-based distortion, while neglecting the perceptual behaviors of binocular combination when stereoscopic video is ...

Gesture and motion recognition are needed for a variety of applications. The use of human hand motions as a natural interface tool has motivated researchers to conduct research in the modeling, analysis and recognition of various hand movements. In particular, human-computer intelligent interaction has been a focus of research in vision-based gesture recognition. In this work, we introduce a 3-...
